According to wiseGEEK "a physical therapist works in a hospital, nursing home, or other facility where  medical treatment is provided, and usually coordinates care with physicians, nurses, psychologists, and occupation therapists." The Therapists that work in hospitals often only provide short-term or intermediate care. "Which are people who are just coming out of surgery or who have recently been diagnosed with certain kind of conditions that are often the mainstay of patient base in these settings. Also according to wiseGEEK "An experienced physical therapist may also choose to work independently; he or she can work in private office or as a consultant." As a therapist the individual will spend much of his or her time on her feet,being active. Some physical therapists are self-employed.
